St.
James's Club - Antigua
Popular with families during summer and holidays and
with couples during winter, this expansive resort attracts
an international clientele. Because it occupies an entire
peninsula, St. James’s Club seems an island onto itself.
Green hills provide a backdrop for light-colored sand beaches,
a turquoise bay lined by coconut palms, and the blue Caribbean
Sea.
Two half-mile beaches protected by a barrier reef edge the
peninsula, which the resort occupies. Serving as the water-sports
center, Mamora Bay's crescent beach is lapped by calm water
and includes two wood docks ending in large sundecks furnished
with lounge chairs as alternatives to sunbathing on the sand.
The second beach supplies snorkeling among coral heads in
the open sea. Four pools, including one for children, provide
freshwater swimming. A 40-by-60-foot main pool features a
270-degree sea view and is paired with a 10-person spa. The
resort's villa section includes a three-level bay-view pool.
The fourth pool overlooks the open sea.
The resort's evening dining dress code is relaxed at Docksider
Restaurant and Bar on the edge of Mamora Bay every Thursday
night when a steel band plays and a limbo dancer entertains
during a Caribbean barbecue buffet.
